I don't fave every single item in my watchlist, nor do I only fave fanart and "omgdesu" crap. (Even though I have a weakness for great Danny Phantom art, ohoho.) Mostly, I have to like the artist and their personality. If the person is a complete waste of oxygen, then I won't give respect by acknowledging their work. However, if the person is good and kind, respectful and opinionated...then I will respect their art.

Am I an artist? That question pops up everywhere and in many forms.

The question that must be answered first, however, is a deceptively simple one. What is art?

Art, by definition, is a creation. It is that which is not drawn from either of the two bases of instinct: reproduction and survival. (Thank you, Scott McCloud.) Therefore, anything that does not fall into those two categories completely is art.

Food, for example. Eating just to eat falls under survival. Add flair, cook a dish you invented...that may be survival, but it's also art.

So to answer my question...yes. I am an artist. I am an artist who is learning. And that learning garners respect. If you respect me, I will respect you back...simple as that.

I live!

...again! (Why do I keep letting my messages pile up here? -_-)

Well, many things have happened lately.
One, I won again on NaNoWriMo! *points ecstatically to NaNo box --->*
Two, I took my SAT on Saturday. I can't wait for my scores!
Three, I got sideswiped on Saturday about an hour after taking my SAT. Yuck. ><
Four...I got tagged by dear miss ~runty. Let the journal commence!

1. Even though I'm only 17, everyone I come in contact with face-to-face thinks I'm around 19-22 (22?!?) and in college.
2. Like English, I'm fluent in HTML.
3. Like French, I'm skilled in CSS and only have to occasionally look up code snippets.
4. Like German and Italian, I know a bit of PHP and JavaScript. I constantly look up tutorials for these. XD
5. I found out that mixing chili and mac-n-cheese makes for quite a delicious meal!
6. I am an avid webcomic reader. At this point, I have over 60 comics in my Google Reader. :)
7. I can never have enough chicken. It is my golden food. *mentally drools*
8. I have never had a boyfriend. Nor do I want one. ><
9. In regards to football, I live in Oregon, so it's always the Ducks vs. the Beavers. When asked what I am, I reply, "Platypus." (Get it?)
10. One of the things I live by goes like this: if you don't embarrass yourself on purpose now, you won't be able to handle it when you accidentally get embarrassed later!
